The Three Main Branches: Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant
Orthodox:
The Orthodox is also known as the Eastern Orthodoxy, Orthodox Christianity, and Orthodox Church. This name is meant to identify the roots of the early beginning of the Church. This started with in the Greek-speaking eastern branch of the Roman Empire. The Eastern Orthodox Church accepts the first seven Ecumenical Councils which occurred between 325 and 787 C.E. They considered themselves the "True Church." The Eastern Orthodoxy is organized with an episcopal structure including the Four Patriarchs. The Four Patriarchs include Alexandria, Antioch, Constantinople, and Jerusalem (the Patriarch of Constantinople is the first of equals) and sanctified bishops (whose lineage is believed to be traced back to Jesus' apostles). The Orthodox Church takes their worshiping very serious in the Church life, history, and practice. Their major figures that they believe that show the presence of God include Jesus, the Virgin Mary, biblical scenes, or saints. The Orthodoxy believes that God exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (shown below is the Orthodox symbol)

Catholic:
The Catholics' are also known as being "Roman Catholic" except most groups do not consider that because they are no longer united with Rome. Catholicism is a worldwide religion that has 1.1 billion members. The history refers back to Jesus in Nazareth during the Roman time (took place in the early 30s of the Common Era). The Catholic churches are headed by bishops, whose role originally came from the twelve disciples of Jesus. A couple decades after Jesus's existence, the bishops wanted to spread throughout the whole world to form a "universal" church. Vatican City is a popular place to find the history marks of the Catholicism. In the earlier Roman Empire, it was illegal to have the religious community, Catholic Christianity to exist. As three hundred years passed, the Empire made this religious community legal. This religion was eventually recognized as the "official religion of the Empire." In present day, Catholicism is the most popular in Africa, South America, and Asia. (shown below is the Catholic symbol)
